About
Located in an inner-city suburb, this terrace refurbishment includes an updated ground-floor kitchen opening onto a new paved entertaining terrace, reconfigured wet areas, and an attic-level master suite. The scope of works includes full architectural and interior design services, along with the selection of joinery and loose furniture pieces.
The material palette features natural and lime-washed oak tones, sandblasted limestone, concrete floors, and microcement walls.
The project explores several resource-efficient strategies, including raw bricks supplied by Natural Brick, repurposed end-of-batch timber flooring, and recycled timber external doors. Raw bricks are often set aside during fabrication due to cosmetic defects, such as chipped corners or varied textures, even though they remain structurally sound. Pre-finished timber flooring is also produced in batches, often with slight variations in colour between runs. This frequently leaves small quantities, often just one or two packs, languishing in forgotten corners of suppliers’ warehouses. We colour-graded these boards and repurposed them for both loose furniture and fixed joinery.
The attic conversion and new stair continue the warm oak palette through the flooring, wall cladding, cupboard fronts, and door cladding, leading into a monastic ensuite finished in sandblasted limestone.
