About
The kitchen uses offcuts of second-hand form ply and Fibre Reinforced Panels (FRP) as the carcass and cupboard fronts. The construction utilised mechanical fixings and was designed for repeated use. The benchtop was fabricated in collaboration with Natural Brick (based in Warragama). It was cast using marble waste salvaged from local stonemasons and with a cement mixture of fly ash, yellow sand (unbleached), and marble sand. The structure for the base reappropriated a proprietary aluminium framing system most commonly used by exhibition contractors. The cooktop was sourced second-hand from a demolition site, the oven was purchased from a local refurbisher, and the sink was ex-display stock.
